You're pretty sharp!
When Europeans and early American settlers
came to Michigan, it was mostly forested.
As people cleared the land for agriculture
and cities, nearly half the forest was
converted to farms and towns. Today, the
area of forest is expanding. Michigan is
certainly NOT experiencing deforestation.
