Sow Thistle (Sonchus arvensis)

This is the tall "dandelion" that most of us are familiar with.  Sometimes the plants can reach five feet, but they are usually around 3-4 feet tall.  The seeds and seed heads also resemble dandelions.  The leaves are variably shaped but often with prickles.   All three Michigan species are from Europe.
